Notepad will do fine, but something with syntax highlighting is helpful. ![]() I made this tutorial on a Windows PC, but all the main parts (the XML and images) can be done on any Operating System, and as long as you can FTP or SSH into the 'theme' folder on your Raspberry Pi, then you can test your theme there. It is a simple, clean theme, not very outlandish, but it's enough to teach the essentials, and a few of the more advanced ideas. The theme we are going to make will look like this: We are only doing 3 folders because once you've done one, the rest are pretty similar, and this tutorial is pretty long as it is, and you can only see 3 systems on the carousel anyway. ![]() I also chose these 3 as they all have different shaped box art (square, portrait and landscape respectively), and we will be using those differences for some more advanced concepts in a later tutorial. I chose these 3 as they are pretty ubiquitous in the console world and most people should have heard of them.
